A Few Fun Facts about Christopher
- I took last place in the 5K race for the Run Home Chicago Race because I stopped for a coffee and Danish along the way – it was way too early in the morning.
- As a philanthropist, I give to charity until it hurts…. Literally! I box for a charity organization, Mercy Home for Boys and Girls. The last time I boxed for this charity, I helped them raise almost $1 million and won the heavyweight fight for the night.
- I like to play golf but the groundskeepers always ask me to leave because I make too many enormous divots.
- I don’t always drink. But when I do, I it’s a Vesper martini…. shaken, not stirred.
I’m the first to admit, I didn’t have an ambitious bone in my body as a teenager. I floundered through life for quite a few years, eventually earning a finance degree from prestigious DePaul University. Infatuated with my aspiration to escape my poverty-stricken childhood impressions, I gravitated toward a high-paying job at the Chicago Board of Options Exchange (CBOE). After years of focusing on financial success, there was still a void in my life.
Not only did I come from a low-income family but my family was also sickened with disease. My mother died from cancer at the young age of only 32, my father died from cancer, my sister died from cancer, and my adopted father suffered from type II diabetes complications for years.
As a diehard advocate for healthy lifestyles, I decided to leave the financial world and enter the health industry. A 15-year veteran as a personal trainer was the springboard to becoming a speaker, author of a healthy lifestyle book, a contributor for a health magazine, a host for a healthy lifestyle radio talk show, and the creator of the 4-Week Functional Health Transformation online course.
“An Ounce of Prevention is Worth a Pound of Cure” – Benjamin Franklin
After 15 years of working with clients, I saw patterns of health deterioration distancing some of my clients from optimal health – most notably prediabetes and type II diabetes. After years of following doctors’ advice and prescriptions, I also watched my adopted father’s health progressively worsen from complications associated with type II diabetes. Early signs like becoming tired very easily and an expanding waistline to elevated cholesterol levels and high blood pressure eventually lead my adopted father down the path to neovascular glaucoma, peripheral neuropathy, and an amputation.
Being a health nut, I’ve learned through the years that it’s much easier to prevent a disease from happening than it is to try to reverse the disease once you get it.
I’ve helped people reverse their prediabetic condition (along with weight loss and lowering cholesterol and blood pressure levels) before they became full-blown type II diabetics.
Knowledge is power! And as a speaker, I’m able to help educate many more people how to preserve their health rather than to rely on expensive, dangerous drugs that don’t reverse chronic diseases.
